waiting on God's timing

have you ever wanted something right now? or acted on impulse? shopping. eating. we want what we want & we want it NOW! we all have found ourselves wanting something. waiting on something. waiting for the next thing. waiting. waiting. there are so many times in my life where I wanted something to happen according to my plan. I wanted to buy a house. I wanted a baby. I wanted to finish school before having a baby. the commonality -----> I wanted those things. it was all about what I wanted & not about what God wanted. what God desired for my life. what HIS plan was.

I had a seemingly perfect plan for my life. graduate from college. get married. buy a house. have a few babies. you know it. the typical American Dream. God sure did have a different plan for my life. sometimes I think that God giggles & chuckles at our intentions because He has greater for us!

I have learned that I can have a plan in mind, but ultimately God's plan prevails. his timing is impeccable. he is always right on time! never late. not early.

think of all the people in the Bible who had to wait. waiting isn't new. waiting isn't a recent discovery. Noah was one man in particular who had to wait patiently for God's timing.

Read Genesis 6-9. some of us know the "Noah's Ark" story well. Noah had to wait to get on the ark AND he had to wait to get off the ark. even though the rain came for 40 days & 40 nights Noah & his family remained on the ark for over 100 days. do you think that Noah & his family would be as strong if they didn't have to wait?? Noah's faith was SOO great!

In the end, God showed Noah & his family a sign. the rainbow. the promise that he would not destroy the earth with a flood again. we see that promise in the sky to this day. God doesn't forget his promises. he doesn't lead you astray during the waiting period. the days that you wait are days that he is preparing you. your mind. your heart. your soul.

"Our willingness to wait reveals the value we place on the object we are waiting for" - Charles Stanley

- Isaiah 40:31 "but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run & not grow weary, they will walk & not be faint."

- Galatians 5:22 "but the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness..."

- Ecclesiastes 3:1 "there is a time for everything, & a season for every activity under the heavens."

whatever you are waiting for wait some more! he hasn't forgotten your request. he hasn't forgotten you. our strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord.

what do you do in the time that you're waiting. do you choose to be unhappy? discontent? angry? jealous of others? fearful? repent of your sin & start waiting as if you're expecting it to happen! don't sit around all "poor me." praise him for what he is GOING to do! praise him for what you DO have. we must wait on the Spirit to lead us. we appreciate things the longer we have to wait for them.

waiting means being dependent on God.
waiting increases faith.
waiting builds character.
waiting helps bring patience.

I waited for the man of my dreams. waited to finish college. waited to have a sweet baby. waited to buy a house. God faithfully gave all of those to me. the waiting was difficult, but I am grateful for the season of waiting.
I married the man of my dreams...

then we bought a house...

then God gave us sweet little Ava Gabrielle...

then I walked at my graduation ceremony this May!
